Government National Mortgage Association GNMA

Also known as "Ginnie Mae," this government agency functions in the secondary market but does not purchase mortgage loans; instead it approves "loan poolers" and issues government guarantees for certain FHA, VA or Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) loans. Ginnie Mae is similar to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, except that Ginnie Mae concentrates on government, non-conventional loans. For more information, see the "Ginnie Mae" article in the "Mortgage Industry" section.
