Steps Against Mortgage Fraud

With all the different stories in the news regarding mortgage fraud, there are some steps you can take against mortgage fraud. No one deserves to get taken advantage of. Therefore, if you are a consumer that is preparing to buy a house I suggest reading these steps as you prepare to become a homeowner. When you are dealing with an appraiser, do your own research and find out what the comparative values are of properties in that neighborhood. This will let you know if the appraiser is in the ball park or just over inflating the appraisal. Second, if you have parents that are older you need to know that there are some people that seem them as easy “prey.” Protect your parents and talk with them about their home buying options. There are others but I wanted to start with these because I believe there are more stories about inflated appraisals and elderly being taken advantage of.
