I have to say that with all the mortgage scams that have been happening people have to be careful. We need to make sure family, friends and colleagues know what they are doing when it comes to preparing to buy a house. I was reading this story on First Coast News where this gentleman was shopping for a mortgage and found an ad in the classified pages of the Florida Times-Union. It promised fast approval, low rates and no fees. He called the number and they said he was approved for a 120-thousand dollar loan at five percent interest rates. His payments would be $73 a month for 16 years. The company told him he would have to pay first and last month payments. He wired the money Western Union. Next they told him they needed money for insurance. He wired more money. There was a third demand. When he was done, he had wired $2,800. He never received the mortgage he was promised. He finally did some research and discovered the Better Business Bureau had no knowledge of them. Take time and do your research!
