Has a bank every deposited your money into the wrong account? Have they ever run someone else’s debit card through your account? Believe me when this happens, you will take every step to keep a handle on your account. Checking on the transactions at least once a week to make sure someone has not stolen your identity. Well, I read this story about these two Alton residents that had fell on hard times for a period of time. Their mortgage bills piled up. When they thought they were in the clear, the bank said it had lost the couple’s checks and filed to foreclose on the property. What I have found interesting when the couple had difficulties with their mortgage, they went to a local organization that gave them the mortgage payment for those two months. The wife went to U.S. Bank and talked with a branch manager who stated it would be enough to catch them up on their payments. Now, this wife was thinking. She had the bank make photocopies of both checks and the receipt signed by the branch manager to make sure the payments would be honored.
