Mortgage brokers, mortgage agents, and mortgage lending

I read a statistic that 1 in 10 home mortgages are in foreclosure. The last few months even here in Colorado it was 1 in every 100 home mortgages are in foreclosure. That is a grim statistic. That means to me you can drive around your community and almost guarantee some of those homes are in foreclosure.  I am not surprised by that based on people’s lack of information, job loss, illness and even divorce. There’s a family in Muncy, Pennsylvania that has gotten quite creative and launched a website to save their home. You can view the website at www.PleaseSaveOurHome.org . I read a part of their story and it does not appear that they did not try to make payment arrangements because they did. If you are a mortgage lender, would you try to work with a family that all of a sudden ended up in a dire situation? What are your thoughts?
